Just wondering if I'm fitting my new bp and harness correctly. I bought the large plate from DSS with pro fit harness. Currently I am barely able to touch the top of the backplate when it's on, and the crotch strap is as long as it goes, and quite snug, which pulls my waist strap down a bit. Any advice? Maybe a longer crotch strap? Thanks, Jonathan

How tall are you?

Have you tried it in the water yet?

Tobin

I'm 6' 3 1/2" Tall. No I have not tried it in water yet. I think it will work, but like I said, perhaps a bit snug in crotch area. I'm planning on using a 7mm suit, and have not even tried it on with that yet. Thanks for your support and great equipment. Just thought you might have some insight before I try it. Thanks, Jonathan

Jonathan,

Let me know, I can always send you a longer strap.

Shouldn't be a big deal Tobin, It may be a week or two before I can try it, I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks for the great service and products.

Tobin, if it is still not too much trouble, I would take you up on that longer crotch strap. After much time adjusting and readjusting, I've discovered this would help me out, as I see other tall divers also have had to lengthen a crotch strap for success.

On a related note, the pro fit harness I decided to uncross the straps, then readjusted until now there is about 6-8 inches of excess webbing with velcro with no place to go on the shoulder straps, would you think cutting this off and sewiing it and burning the end would be all right?

Thanks, Jonathan

Im diving his Hogarthian harness and large plate, I dont know if the strap is 2 different sizes but I have extra length on the strap and I am 6'6". Just thought id toss out another perspective.

Jonathan,

You can cut the excess off the upper shoulder straps if you prefer, hot knife is a good way, but I'm a bit surprised that on large plate that you would have that much extra.

Uncrossing the straps will raise the plate, and shoulder straps end up shorter, so that would explain part of the excess, but 8 inches is a lot.
