I have a DiveRite steel plate, harness, and single-tank adaptor, a DSS 27lb wing for singles and a Hollis 55lb wing for doubles. I got this particular collection of gear because it was what I found used online. The plate does not look shiny and new, but that doesn't affect its functionality at all. Both wings work great. Both DiveRite and DSS have solid reputations. Seems like the debate over plates gets in to vanishingly small differences -- they're formed pieces of steel with a few slots cut in and a few holes drilled in -- the differences between vendors is pretty small (unless you just want the sexiest plate you can find for diving singles only and money is not object, then the Freedom plate advertised on here look pretty good).

My purchases:

Dive Rite Stainless Steel Backplate & Harness: $90
Dive Rite STA with cam bands: $45
Hollis X Series 55 Lb Doubles Wing: $150
DSS 27lb singles wing: $150

$435 and I have both singles and doubles capability.

Of the same size I would agree, where i would disagree is the sizing. Like a few others on here, the 'standard' sized BP is to small. I had actually had a well respected tech diver/instructor in the area tell me flat out a DR BP is to small for me. I went to another instructor and the same thing. DSS is one of the only BP mfg's who produce a BP that would fit me properly.

Well, like we used to say in the car business "There's an ass for every seat".
