I'm threading my new DSS hog harness and am unsure about how to thread the buckle and crotch strap. Where did you place the webbing keepers and how much excess did you save?

Thanks again

I recommend that you leave a little extra lenght of webbing when first setting up your rig. You will want to dive it a few times before making the final cut.

The waist buckle should be to the right of center. The buckle passes through the crotch strap loop. There are a couple ways to thread the waist buckle. First a coule definitions:

The "back" of the buckle is against the diver. The "hinge end" is where the pivot is.

The hinge end should be to the right. Starting from the end opposite the hinge I pass the webbing from the back of the buckle to the front in the first slot, then thru the next slot to the back, and then back thru the last slot to the front. I usually leave about 6 inches projecting beyond the buckle, at least at first. Have no worry that the webbing will pull out.

I prefer this lacing because it's easy to do, and makes adjustments easy. As you become more certain of the harness adjustments you can trim the excess.

You are likely to have several feet of extra webbing when you are done.

The three serrated keepers are for the three drings, the two bent ones go on your shoulder straps and the straight one goes on your left hip. You do not need any keepers behind the plate, at the lower slots, our built in keepers do the job.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Merry Christmas,

Hmm I guess I had my terms messed up here. I know where the metal keepers go, was curious as to where the latex bands went?

Thanks for the help tobin.

Ok,

I put one on the left shoulder strap above the shoulder Dring, useful for securing the LP hose that connects to the power inflator. The other two loops are for securing backup lights, place one on each shoulder strap below the bent d rings.
