OK, this was a missunderstanding. I thought you would fill it in front of you. That would be impossible.

Soggy:
I have done it in real life....I carry a SCC bag and a CC bag with me.

Any method of filling a liftbag where the bag comes up and hits you in the chest before being deployed is not optimal. The point isn't that the bag is *filled* in front or below you, the point is that the bag should fall so that when released it comes outside of your body vs underneath. Since the bag is a couple feet long, you can fill it with the BAG outside of your body and the inflator nipple underneath you. If you can't, your buddy should help you keep it out in front of you.

Hi, guys...

Fairly new diver here, couple of questions...

1) Shooting a lift bag... is this done to provide boats (perhaps even the one you're diving from) something to watch out for in a possibly busy area, or does give you a reference to ascend by(how fast the rope goes through your fingers), or both, or other reasons?

2) From a technique standpoint, it appeared to me as though the diver in the video used his LP inflator hose from his drysuit (i saw him reach to his chest and produce a hose). How would he get air from this hose, using only the hose? Or was he using an inflator device I wasn't seeing?

Thanks,
