I like that original reply. Nothing! That sounds about right.

LUBOLD8431 - Do you mean top and bottom as in shirt and pants or as in a top and bottom layer? I have a 300g Polarfleec garment too. When it's really cold I wear a polypro layer underneath. I think I need to get one of those vests for next winter too, though. That Saturday back in January was really cold. But after reading your post I'm thinking maybe just put another layer of polypro over my garment.

You know, like a long sleeve shirt and pants. Works well for me. I would put the polypro UNDERNEATH the fleece...

I just can't imagine walking down to the water at Dutch, in a drysuit when it's in the high 80s in the middle of the summer! I'm still thinking I'll break out my 7mm for the summer. I figure either way I'll sweat my ass off before I get in, but I'll be just a little cooler in the 7mm, and I think the 7mm will be a litte more comfortable when I'm getting out after my dive.

Maybe I just need to bring both to one of those first weekends and dive both suits?

Why? I usually wear a drysuit year round. Besides, its not the surface you are dressing for, its the bottom. When you are in freshwater in the summer, it can be warm. When you go to the Ocean, however, whole different story. Still chilly at depth, even in the middle of July.
I will admit that I have a 5mm wetsuit that I use in the summer when I am teaching, and the water temps are up in the 60's. I dont like to pull out the drysuit for water temps that high. I hate 7mm wetsuits, and I refuse to wear them... So for me, its either 5mm wetsuit, or drysuit for cold water diving.

I agree. I hate 7mm suits. I hate wetsuits altogether, actually. So far, the warmest I have ever used my dry suit was 68F in St. Lawrence, I just were the Polartec 100 fleece pants and jacket, and it was perfect.

I just got mew new custom made undergarments that supposed to be good to 38-55F, which I plan on using all year round.. can’t wait to try them in SoCal next weekend.
