Thanks Derek, sounds exactly like what happened.

I should have left the originals on in hindsight so that the new seals had something to attach to.

I took the seals off, just so I would have a more "factory" look, and I am very happy that I did. It took quite a bit more work, but it was well worth it, just for the looks.
