Just take off the OPV and hang it to dry. Also, take a look at this video:

Is that the Halcyon C.O.T.E. (Curve of the earth) DSMB?
That is their Super Slim 6 foot DSMB. If I remember correctly, I read it was created at the request of a high up GUE diver who was left adrift and wanted a tall DSMB without the high lift of the fatter models. This model has just 12 pounds of lift compared to their other 6 foot model which has 52 pounds of lift.

Give it a bit of a soak with your stuff after

I found out that an easy way to get all the water out and make sure the DSMB is really dry inside is to remove the OPV and iron the DSMB. You need to set the iron to cotton or linen, low temperature doesn’t work, and iron from both sides.

Don’t forget to dry your OPV with a hair drier and add a bit of grease on the OPV seal. Don’t overtighten the OPV, it will leak!

Ironing a DSMB ensures that the DSMB will be easy to inflate as the sides don’t stick together on the inside and all your boat captains will be pleased as your DSMB will be nicely visible and stand tall, not crumply like all the others. It’s a secret I learned from a really good DM in Koh Tao, they teach it in their 4 week extended DM course over there and all the good PADI pros iron their DSMBs.

Oh and don’t trust random muppets on the internet. I think the best answer is - it just stays wet. Doesn’t matter aside from an occasional OPV rinse and there is so much other gear to rinse or service between dives that …

Before storage, I inflate mine and prop it so that the OPV is at the low point. Let the water settle, then purge it out and all of the humid air. Repeat until there is no water left.

After a couple of rinses with fresh water, I'll add some isopropyl alcohol to water for a fina slosh then leave it to dry with the OPV off.

Mine stays "damp" through most of the dive season and I'll just give it a quick rinse with clean tap water when I get home. When the lakes freeze over, I'll unscrew the OPV, give it a final rinse, splash in a bit of 91% alcohol and drain and then slide the SMB down over a thin wood broom handle through the OPV hole to totally dry before rolling it up and packing it away for the season.
