I am fairly new to diving and live in a cold water area (Montana). Diving is doable here with a 7 mil suit. But everyone that has a dry suit says it's the only way to go. I can get a really reasonable wet suit from Triple L, but drysuits are so expensive and size XL long is hard to find in used gear. Is there an economical alternative for a drysuit?

For me a drysuit was a big investment but worth it. I now have a custom suit that i really like and would not/will not go back to cold water diving in a wetsuit.

There are some low end cheaper suits that seem to do the job like a bare nexgen for example. Its a no thrills bilam back zip suit but does the job. Check with www.divetank.com for some good deals on new suits and demo models.
