No I didn't make it for 2 reasons. 1. the guy I was supposed to go with backed out & then decided to go at last minute which led to reason #2. My dog is currently undergoing heart worm treatment & I have to keep her penned up & quiet at all times. Thank goodness only 2 more weeks of this to go. Actually I've ordered a White's Catalyst dry suit. It is of comprable quality at a much more reasonable price.

Pretty nice suit. I almost owned one before my Bare but it was just a bit short. Let me know if you want to dive any at Joe's. With any luck my schedule will open up a bit her e shortly.

Well I can say for sure now that the suit is ordered. It was supposed to have been done last week, but my instructor had a heck of a time getting a hold of the White's rep that she normally went through. She had to call White's directly twice to get them to get the rep's butt in gear:frustrate . He would promise to return calls, then not do it & so forth. My instructor just got approved to be a dealer & circumvent the rep. My suit should arrive next week; just in time for the dry suit class on the 11th.:yelclap: (Now I just hope the fit is right).

OK, I got through the dry suit class today (I'm typing this after a few hrs rest). I believe I made a very wise choice on the purchase of my dry suit:) . We did classroom work then did 2 dives. The first dive was very difficult because I had to use some old borrowed fins from the dive store. They were the very thick & stiff variety. I typically use a hybrid between the stiff fins & split fins. Also I used my regular bibbed wet suit hood. Because of having to tuck it into the neck seal dam, I couldn't move my head & that killed almost all of my flexibility, I couldn't even put my fins on myself (how embarrassing:blinking: ). Because I wasn't used to the fins & couldn't move my head, I struggled a bit on the first dive with the general swimming. I went through the skills without much trouble though. The dive was a max depth of 48' for 25 min. I didn't get cold in the water, but once we got out & removed hood & gloves, I got cold in a hurry (the oustside temp was about 41 degrees, with a stiff wind blowing). We came out & rested & warmed up:coffee: in a shed in which we put a portable heater. After eating & drinking coffee & hot chocolate, a bit we went to prepare for the next dive. I had a very difficult time getting my gear prepared because my hands got so cold I couldn't feel what I was doing. On the second dive I used some one's spare split fins & a hyperstretch dry suit hood. I was barely unable to get the fins on or off (I think when I get a little more used to the suit it shouldn't be an issue). I could move my head & was much more comfortable. The split fins made a world of difference. My legs were no longer trying to cramp from the effort of kicking. The 2nd dive went much smoother than the first. We did a max depth of 84' for 19 minutes. Once again I had no problems with the skills, however I did feel a small bit of narcosis (the first time I can say I actually felt it- it wasn't bad & was manageable- just felt a little dizzy on the bottom- I guess too much time out of the water ;-) ). My larger fins I've ordered (the same size style as what I already have) will be here next week & I'm getting a hyperstretch dry suit hood, so I should be good to go. Also when my dry suit arrived, the manufacturer forgot to include the heavier insulated jump suit, which would have been perfect (I was a tad cool from having to use the lighter jump suit, but much warmer than if I had to used a wet suit. I just need to dive with the dry suit a few more times to really become proficient with it. I do like the fact that it seems to make buoyancy control on the bottom a little easier to manage. I believe I'm really going to like dry suit diving. I am planning on going diving a few times before the holidays, hopefully after things slow down a bit from them, I'll be out doing alot more diving. .

It sounds like after the first of the year the KPP is going to have several new dry divers. Gear up boys and girls were goin divin. :D
