Thats great mnicediver - just the info I was looking for.
How did you make the heat sink contact - simple contact or did you use paste or something?

I used a terralux 300m and all I did was solder a + wire to the bulb tip and a ground wire to the side and made sure the base made good contact for a heat sink. It's worked great for 2 years with a 12 volt system.
