Hey everyone,

I plan on diving Galapagos in early July. The question I have is whether to book in advance or is it better to negotiate with dive shops upon arrival? Is there a chance the dive shops will be overbooked?

Exciting!!! Our family dove the Galapagos just last year, in June 2018. We dove with Scuba Iguana out of Santa Cruz island, where we stayed for our entire trip. The diving was amazing! We loved Scuba Iguana. The other operator I strongly consider was Academy Divers, and from all accounts I heard while there, they are a good outfit as well.

Personally, I would book prior. June - Aug is high season. Our boat had 9-10 divers a day (close to max). One day we had overflow from Academy. If you bring your own gear, and book for multiple days, they will give you some discount.

Also, plan 7mm, plus hood, and maybe a vest. It's chilly.
