I am in the early stages of dreaming of a trip to Asia. This looks like and interesting starting point. LAX to Hong Kong + two additional cities in 21 days. I have a few questions, like which two cites would I pick and would 21 days be enough ? For $250 you could add nine days, or for more money more cities.

Cathay Pacific USA - All Asia Pass - Highlights

I would love some ideals for my dreams. Thinking November 09 as next winter is scheduled.
I posted this here for a wider exposure, maybe it belongs in Asia ?? Let a moderator decide.

Manilla to Puerto Galera.

Inexpensive SW Pacific diving at its best. Get there before the rest of the world figures it out.

Excellent start, thank you. Picking two cities off of the magazine adds is easy. I want some places that are special. This looks special,,,,

I'd recommend highly a trip to Borneo for several reasons....

1. You can dive Sipidan, Mabul & Kapalai.
2. Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary
3. Climb Mt Kinabalu for the dawn sunrise.
4. Awesome jungle treks and meet real tribespeople.

Maybe get a flight/stop in Kuala Lumpur and then organise your own (cheap) internal transfer to Kota Kinabalu or Semporna and take it from there.....

From Cebu you can head to Sogod Bay on Leyte (see Sogod Bay Scuba Resort, Philippines » Home) -- beautiful corals, very, very quiet - still pretty much undiscovered

From Jakarta you can get a cheap flight to Bali with AirAsia.com and take a liveaboard to Komodo or just dive around Bali itself - Tulamben, Lembongan, Pemuteran - depends if you want to be shore based or on a boat. Bali is great for photos and small stuff, very pretty, although Lembongan is big currents and seascapes - great fun.

From Singapore you could get a cheapie flight to Manado and dive Manado and the Lembeh Straits
(might be easier to go from Jakarta, not sure)

I'd agree with Andy that Borneo is maybe the best option in terms of bang for your buck - Sipadan/Mabul/Kapalai are all awesome, and if you go to Sepilok you can head on out to Lankayan Island from Sandakan which has some great reefs too.

Depends how many places you want to visit in the time you've got and how much you want to be in the water and how much on land, and the sort of diving you like...
