Hi Everyone in the Northern Cal or Nevada region.

The Northern Nevada Dive club is sponsoring a DPV Demo day at Lake Tahoe, CA on Sunday, July 20th.

The event will be held at Hurricane Bay, just a few miles south of Tahoe City, CA. We will have several DPVs available to try from Dive-Xtras, Hollis, Oceanic and more with some manufacturer representatives in attendance. Diving will start at 10am and will include basic DPV instruction if you've never tried one before.

For more information or to sign up, just post to this thread.

Thanks--hope you can come and join in on the fun.
Janet

Is there any consideration to doing one of these in Monterey? I would love to try a Dive-Xtra's scooter but doubt ill be able to make it up to Tahoe.

We are doing the DPV demo at Tahoe because the 3 days prior is going to be a DPV testing event for all manufacturers interested at a 1/4 mile 'racetrack' we have set up here. Most manufacturers are willing to stay an extra day for a consumer day. The results of the tests will be published in Advanced Diver Magazine soon after. If you would like to have a Dive-Xtras demo day, you should call Ben and see if he would be willing to come down for one.

Thanks,
Janet

As an update to Janet's post, we have the following scooters in attendance:

  • SS N-19
  • SS UV-18
  • Dive-X Sierra
  • Dive-X Sierra Long body
  • Dive-X Sierra w/ Deep Sea Supply LiPo battery
  • Gavin Standard
  • Hollis H-160
  • Hollis H320
  • Suex ADV 18
  • Oceanic Mako
  • Torpedo 2500
  • SeaDoo Explorer

Anyone that's bemoaned their inability to try out different scooters side by side, this is your chance! It's not often (if ever) that there's a sample of the market all in one place like this.

All the best, James
