The doughnut wing allows air to move from side to side at different trims...ascending and descending for example, instead of getting trapped on one side and causing uneven buoyancy. At least this is my understanding of the difference and how it was explained to me.

Diversolo, yes that is what I thought too but then, is there an advantage to the horsehoes wing?

I am thinking abouth double tanks

Yes, they are about $50 cheaper.

When I dive a single tank (as I usually do) I greatly prefer the donut shaped wing because of the unrestricted movement of air through the wing regardless of trim (as mentioned above). It is important to me because, as a videographer who gets into "unusual" positions to film and needs to fully vent the wing frequently, air trapped in the wing can ruin a shot if it keeps me slightly bouyant or shifts while filming. I've had both happen when I dive either of my horseshow-shaped wings (which I've "retired" in my dive locker until I start diving doubles more frequently.

I dive double st85's with a horseshoe wing and find it a great combo. Also a 'larger' st130 single I dive with a horseshoe wing and it handles fine.

a horseshoe wing looks like a harder wing the vent...right?....if then what is its advantage vs a donut when diving double tanks?....

A single tank wing does not span much width, so a horseshoe and a donut react quite similarly in most circumstances. There are exceptions.

On doubles, gas is FAR more likely to be trapped by the wing. I have two donut wings for doubles (Halcyon Evolve, and DSS Torus) and one horseshoe (DR Classic). The Evolve feels and reacts very much like my donut, single tank wing. I really don't dive any of the others any more. Not that they don't work well, they just require me to make some adjustments in my diving or my configuration.
