What training is invovled with diving doubles? Also, I would like to be able to draw off both tanks at the same time to avoid unbalanced situations, is that possible?

Thanks!

If you use a regular isolation manifold (standard tech diver style manifold), then yes you can draw off both tanks equally, or isolate one from the other. As for training, just get them setup, start diving some shallow controlled environment dives, and get an instructor or experienced diver to show you how the isolation manifold works, and some drills to practice.

ok, Thanks for the info. Is it common to draw on both equally? do you connect the first stage to oneside or the other or in the middle?

thanks again!

You actually use two regs, one on each post. The most common setup for this is to have your primary reg w/ a 7ft hose and the line to your BC on the right post and a back up reg (22" hose) bungied around your neck and spg comming from the left post, if you're diving dry you'll have your dry whip come from here too. The best hting you can do is to find someone in your area with experience and get them to show you the ropes.

I second the suggestion, get someone in your area to show you how it works. If I had mine assembled right now, I'd take a few pics of the manifold and how it's setup, but unfortunetly I have mine torn down for hydro.

valves and manifold for double tanks.
Most common way to use doubles with manifold. Both tanks have their own valve for independent 1st stage. With the isolator in the manifold they can be isolated if necessary.

Hey TeddyDiver,

the link does not work. Thanks guys, I am totally going to get the proper training prior to doing anything. I am just wonder what it looks like and works before heading into this half blind. Thanks for you help!

A good break down for manifold isolation procedures is on the 5thDX Tech DVD. It covers the failures pretty good. Like some have said, get with some body who dives double to help ya get everything set up. Specally if you are planing on building then, you can ruin the manifold if you they are put built right. Doubles rocks too by the way!
