i have a sea quest pro QD BC and like most BCs it has a single tank band to secure the tank to the BC. I have been looking around to find a kit to modify the back pack of the BC to add a second tank band for added security against tanks slipping while diving. Anyone know of any kits or suggestions on mod kits to add a second tank band.

thanks
lenny

Get a cam band with a stainless cam buckle ( OMS, Dive Rite, etc ) made for single tanks on BP/W and use that rather than the plastic cam buckle that usually comes with a BC. When I do use my Jacket BC I move the band from my BP/W. It gives more leverage and holds the tank tighter.

I may be old, but I’m not dead yet.

Does the current band have a grip pad on it? That typically helps. I have never had the plastic cams slip. But then again I have never paid over $500 for a BCD that did not come with two cam bands. That said what does the back look like? Can you move the location of the cam band down while adding another higher up? As said above, it is easy to buy just the cam band. Adding to the BCD is the real question.

When I got certified I was using the ProQD bc and I never had any issues with the tanks slipping. I did see others where the tank did side, but they had not clamped down on the strap or had threaded the strap correctly.

are you making sure that you're cam band is wet BEFORE you put the tank in? The poly pro webbing will stretch noticeably when it is wet and can cause tank slippage. Get it wet, put it on the tank, THEN cinch it down before you cam it shut. Doing this I have never had a tank slide out of it's band. Single or double, Plastic or metal or scubapro, they've all been fine
