After researching and waiting for more than a year, I recently purchased the wireless Atom 2 and removed my SPG. I travel a lot and really like only having 2 hoses (reg+air2). My reasoning is that if the first generation Atom 1 wireless technology had been unfit, Scubaboard would be chock full of accidents/complaints regarding the unit (normal battery/software issues notwithstanding) . Having said this, I replaced both batteries before my first dive.
