Hi there....

First time here... Got a question... I have been a reg tech for a decade, and I wanted to

ask you fellow divers if you would be intested in a door to door service on your dive

equipment. Is there a market for it in your area? Let me know, before I make a mistake..

Looking forward to any response...good or bad..... pepperbutt

No, Carl. It would be your second time here.

Where's your door? I mean.... in realtionship to mine?

Can you be by before 8pm? Have em ready by 0800? :eyebrow:

In my area, there's basically zero demand for that. Then again, my area is Baton Rouge, LA -- at least 4.5 hours from *any* non-pool dive site (except Lake Pontchartrain... yipee).

Ye gads man, do you call Lake Pontchatrain a dive site? If that is true, lets not forget Lake Maurapas. Do you have the boat? When are we going?

I've seen wetsuit and drysuit diving, but your in to hazmat suit diving there....:shakehead :shakehead :shakehead

Not sure how much of a market here in Central Fl. but tons of divers..

Chris

Pontchartrain has four artificial reef sites. For about a year now, I've been bugging my friends who fish to give me a ride out to one or more. Lake Maurepas has even less viz, as far as I've heard, and there aren't any reef balls out there. :D

Incidentally, as long as you're not near any outflows, it's not at all hazmat. There are monitoring sites documented online, and most have quite low counts.

pepperbutt,

Are you saying that you would show up at my driveway with a van set-up for service, re-build my reg's, and returm then to me before you left. Are you also concidering emergency re-building????

Depending on the "service" charge...............

Good luck

Personally I like actually going to my dive shop when I am getting gear surfaced. I love looking at everything and chatting with the employees. However, my LDS has amazing service whereas sometimes others do not and people may not like actually going there. IMO you would have to be in an area with a HUGE diver population and not many shops to be profitable.

Y'all might like the local area specialties I've thought up for this area. There in post #12 on this thread.

Post some pics of the reefs if / when you go there Clayjar. I'd like to take a sneak peek. Going to the Ponchatoula Strawberry festival next week is more in line with my idea of a great weekend 'round heah.

Been There Done That The lake is not really that bad if you are looking for some easy spearfishing or low visibility exploring. I like Fountainblu (PreStorm) and the Causeway. I have also been told by a couple of the Helldivers that the Rigolets is an awesome place to spearfish if you do not mind being strapped to a train bridge. I have done the "reefs" they were pretty cool and easy to find but we did hit it on a bad day and the vis was at about 0.01 inches. Did chase around some decent sheephead. Pre-Katrina and Pre-Spillway opening we had done some dives with pretty good vis. That is pretty much over now.

One good thing about the Lake for you DIR guys is that you cannot help but be horizontal the deepest point is about 15 feet. ;)
