The last few times we have traveled to Indo we have been using Cathay through YVR instead of SFO or LAX. For us being in the Seattle area it's really a no brainer but when we are booking the trips using Alaska or AA miles, they always try to route through SFO or LAX, usually LAX so you have to ask to be routed through YVR.
Going through YVR saves the flight time down and up the coast to California plus being able to clear customs with a handful of people is great. I don't think we have ever had to wait for more than one or two other people but you do have to clear Canadian customs at the beginning of the trip which is usually painless.
