Or is it something that you have to get Suunto?

The Geckko comes with it's own band and it is not a standard watch band.

You can buy it wrist mount, which gets you the large watch band style thing, or you can get it in a console.

If you were to replace it could you use a regular watch band?

I'm not sure there is really such a thing as a standard watch band, but no. It's sort of like a watch band, but completely different size and attachment. There is a mount some people buy which uses bungies instead so you can just slip it on. Why do you want to replace it?

I want a cloth band that goes thru both pins so if one pin breaks you dont loose the watch/computer.

I'm going to disagree and say that, yes, the Gekko *does* use a "standard" watch band. However, while I consider it a "standard" watch band (in that it has a simple spring-pin-and-band configuration), the band is much wider than any plain old watch I've had, and the spring pins are much beefier. I don't know whether you're likely to find a watch repair shop who has the proper sizes.

Personally, I use the DSS bungee wrist mounts for my Gekko, my Vyper2, and my SK-7 compass. I used two separate bungee loops, so even if one fails, there is an independent backup. Mine are the pink variants available at Think Pink Scuba -- strictly as a loss-prevention measure, of course. (There's little overlap between people who would steal your gear and people who like bright pink. :rofl3:)

By the way, the Gekko, Vyper, Vyper2, and Vytec are identical in their wrist-mount and console-mount versions. If you have the console-mounted versions, you just open the console and pull out the computer, and it's ready for a DSS bungee mount or a Suunto wristband. The "ears" into which the watch-style band's spring pins attach are there on the console-mounted computers. (There is no such thing as "console mount" and "wrist mount" in the computer bodies themselves. The *only* difference is where they're put and what's attached.)
