Kim:
So I wonder....for us 'ordinary Joes'......does SB help you to dive more often than you would have done otherwise?

Kim: Yes SB, at least for me, keeps it fresh and motivates me to dive more. This is a good board with lots of info and informed comment. We have our Pompous Pundits and the usual trolls, far less than most sites we monitor. Thanks to Net Doc and others. This board provides good info, lots of nice divers, and a strong motivation to get out there and just get wet.

Thank Al for the internets! All of the community boards throughout the internet are fantastic resources for experiencing, learning, meeting, and doing.

SB is certainly no exception, and I was re-introduced to So Cal diving through contacts here.

Yes, I do think I dive more as a direct result of ScubaBoard.

Before ScubaBoard I did dive year round and was a moderately active diver.

After ScubaBoard I have a much larger group of diving friends. I have been diving with these friends in Florida, Virigina, and California. It is easier to add yourself to a group that may have an organized dive, or even just put together a small group, when there is a common meeting place like ScubaBoard. Many dive shops provide this type of community with dive clubs that meet at the shop, but my travel and work schedules often make these groups difficult for me. For ScubaBoard all I need is internet access and an open day in my calendar.

ScubaBoard has had a significant impact on my frequency of diving as well as my awarness of the overall diving environment.

I will try not to natter. :shakehead
I get to dive more because of SB because I met all my buddies here and I would not be diving as much as I do now (about once a week when "warm", a couple times a month when "cold") without the excellent advice that I got about choosing the right drysuit for me. These are really the only aspects of the board that are "encouraging" though since some of the nattering rather turns me off so I usually write about my dives elsewhere.

Yes and no. For local diving I prefer NCDivers, because I personally know a good deal of the people on there so we go diving occasionally together.
Scubaboard is more international so it's more of a conglomeration of ideas and recommendations about places to buy/where to get gear and things of that nature.

This site has absolutely increased my diving!!

I've met a great number of people locally, I'm going to SoCal, and Florida probably wont be too far behind.;) ALL with SB divers!

I got certified with some of my best friends and we dove quite a bit at first, but they didn't want to keep the pace up. I met several of my regular dive buddies through ScubaBoard. I learned about some of my most frequent dive sites from this forum as well.

I have no problem keeping up the pace over a larger variety of areas now :D
