i.e. double strap connection, instead of single point connection as with usual silicone straps.

Standard Garmin 25mm quick clip-ok connections. Came with a “normal” length and a longer one for over a suit. Many OEM straps available online.

So the answer is "no"? that's bad, I want a two-point connection like in Teric or Suuntos etc.

Wait. It looks like there are usual pins under these "quick connections".
could you post a photo with straps removed please? I think using a NATO strap could be possible.

Sorry for the delay.

Yes, you can use a NATO, but it will block the heart rate sensor.

I'm more interested in saving a $1k watch than in knowing my exact heart rate.
DuTemplar, thanks!

No problem. Also, if you know anyone with a student email, have them sign up for a discount code at myunidays.com. A week ago, they were doing 35% off garmins, including the descent. I got myself a Fenix 5 as an everyday watch, but the descent was going to be $650 if I wanted that.
