Nah, them old things will kill you.
It's gonna get these guys.....I'm in the middle. This was taken on Bonaire last week. The diver on the left is ScottyD of SB, doing his first ever DH reg dive. There is a fairly large and growing group of us restoring and diving the old regs. Properly rebuild they are as safe and reliable as any modern reg, thanks to Bryan @ VDH and others who have stepped up and reproduced parts for the regs. At this time, your best option is either a US Diver reg- Royal Aquamaster (RAM), DA Aquamaster (DAAM) or Mistral or any of the Voit counterparts. Other DH regs like Dacors and Healthways regs are hard to find parts for and impossible to find new reproduction parts for. If you are interested in seeing some of the old regs and diving them, there is a vintage dive event coming up at Protage Quarry in Ohio in August. A lot of DH divers will be there, I am hoping to make it myself. The old regs are a lot of fun to dive and quite a conversation piece. They do dive differently and you really should find someone who is willing to mentor you along if you decide to try a DH reg. They are different beast and require a little different technique to dive properly.
Strange!!! Hey I resemble that...It's been too long BD, when you going to be around the quarry again?
Just saw this thread.Way to go guys!
I want some "vintage pics" next time I get down your way.
