nope- i do however flash to the last page and read the last word or two...dunoo why though...or i'd flash a few chapters on to see if there are any other characters introduced etc, but i'd only actually read the book in order!

That's an awful lot of flashing! Mind me not to be anywhere near you when you read a book

I never read the end of a book first. Actually I tend not to finish that many books. I get bored easily!

I can read a book over and over, but there is a special quality to reading a book when you don't know the ending. I love my Dean Koontz books enough to read repeatedly (I generally like the older stuff more, but The Taking is awesome! Maybe he's returning to the writing style I love so much!), but I love reading them the first time. WIth most, you either get a feel for the root cause of the mysterious happenings, but it's wrong, or in others you simply have no real idea until you get to the end. It's almost like you are the characters, since you get information as they do. I can't imagine spoiling that experience!

I like to read the book backwards and try to figure out how it starts..

but hey, whatever rubs your buddha.

Is this a hitherto unknown (to me anyway) way to say “whatever floats your boat” and offend Buddhists at the same time? English is my second language so I apologize if I have misunderstood this phrase.

You should try Italo Calvino’s “Invisible Cities”.

Heck no. I never do that. I don't want to ruin the surprise.

Read the last chapter of a book to see what happens?

No, never!

My husband and I are going around and around about this. I like to know the end of a movie or book - then I can enjoy the trip to the end. No worries, concerns or stress. He says absolutely no way!!

What is your opinion?

creates these emotions for you? What does everyday life do to ya?

I've had to swear off reading except on vacation for that exact reason - I get too into the story and get stressed or depressed or whatever else right along with the characters...

I try not to but sometimes the temptation is too much. I really ruined "Of Mice and Men" by doing that...

nope the end is called the end for a reason
