Does anyone else have problems with Shearwater Desktop BT connection?

    I've had problems on and off since I got my Petrel downloading logs.
    I used the BT dongle and depending on the version of Shearwater Desktop (SWD) it would work no problem. Several times, when I install an SWD upgrade... it no longer syncs with my dive computer.

    I recently got a new laptop with internal BT and the Perdix.
    I tried syncing them. It got as far as updating the title screen.
    I was able to sync for "diagnostic" once, but unable to repeat it.
    I tried uploading my dive log last night with no success. I unpaired the DC, re-paired it... no luck.

    On SWD it still shows the serial number from my Petrel when I click on the "change computer name" option.

    I was going to install an older version of SWD but I wasn't sure if it would work with the Perdix.

    Any recommendations?

    From pure network troubleshooting - if you got it to update the title, then they are "talking".

    Does the computer simply count down and the desktop fails to find the computer?

    I have problems with mine if the battery gets low even if it still shows as blue good to go on the battery gauge I swap it out and all is ok again.

    I have a 'dive' which will not download to the desktop app. It was less than a minute so I suspect so validation bug in the downloader. The various iPad apps which can download the logs are happy with it.

    When I first got the petrel (2) I had to use the dongle as the built in BT on my Lenovo didn't work with it. Having done a lot of reinstalling of Windows it now works without the dongle.

    That is not at all helpful in troubleshooting. Shearwater needs to know exactly what it is doing.

    If you have friends with the software - or even not, if they will download it for you onto their computer. If they already have the software, make sure they backup their database before downloading your computer.

    They then try to download your Petrel. If it works for them on their computer, the problem is your computer, or the driver, or the software load.

    If it fails again, then it is the Petrel or the battery.

    Mine occasionally has a problem when downloading logs. It will start but then fail (I do not remember the error code). If I try a couple of times, it will complete it. I believe it has something to do with a Windows 10 patch that was installed around September when it started happening on my system.

    My solution is to just try a couple of times. So far it has worked. I have not sent any information to SW about this so I have not looked for a solution from them either.
