Her are some additional pictures of the DPV. I think it's safe to say that it is a Porta-Sub. It has the numbers 128 stamped in the housing just above the handle. Does anyone remember the original paint scheme on this? Blue body and white nose cone?

I'm pretty sure it was solid yellow. From the 50s, but the name escapes me at the moment.
 
I came across this image of one in yellow. I read somewhere that the Porta-Sub was originally designed by a company in California and later sold to Voit.

Dan from Vintage was kind enough to send me the following pictures of his two Porta-Subs and a shot of the original instructions from the manufacturer before the company or design was bought by Voit.

Now that is an idea. I wonder which of the 2 will know.
Contrary to your point, there are a few more than two of us over there. It looks like Dan has a pretty good handle on these scooters.
