It's not really "May" but now. Do a weather search and you might be able to get a current ocean temp. For me, a 1mm suit in May won't cut it. Right now you could be in the low-mid 70's at the surface and upper 60'0's-low 70s at depth. If you're in the water for a couple of hours, or all day, that's not enough protection. I would wear a 4/5 or at least a 3/4 for early May (normally) and I don't think this year has been unusually warm.

I was there in August and we needed a 3 mil suit. I would expect November to be a bit colder.

Here is a link to the Cancun Marine forecast. Although like any weather system it is not 100 % I have found it usually pretty accurate to predict conditions and whether or not I will be diving on a specific day. It includes wind, wave and temperature.

Was there in Dec. Everyone had either a full 3mm or a 5mm and the DMs ALL had 5mm or more plus hoods. for the cenotes, I wish we would have had something thicker as well. I was OK, my daughter was cold in the Cenotes

Would a full suit 7mm end by end of July be too hot? I like to stay warm, but I don't want to be overheated...

a full 7mm will be too hot, i dive cozumel every year, i always use my shorty except when i went in january i used my 3/2 mm full suit.. when the boat stops moving and you are all suited up it is HOT, even with a shorty, i need to get in water QUICK!!! i will be in playa del carmen 7/21/10 to 7/28/10...

Hi Kryssa,
November water temp is around 78/79f. A 3mm full will do the job perfectly, a 3mm shorty would be ok too. I wear a 5mm during the winter months, sometimes I even think about a 7mm!!! Pathetic I know!!

i agree with the 3mm.. i have been to cozumel in nov. & jan. a shorty gets chilly on boat ride!!!:cool2:

Thanks all... planning to bring a 3mm, more comfortable for me than 5mm, hope I'm not cold!
