I started diving 5 years ago after nearly 20 years of being obsessed with big game sportfishing.

While I might toss a jig or two during a surface interval, or go with my non-diving fishing friends when I get an invite, I basically lost all interest when I started diving.

Has anybody else experienced this, or I am just OCD?

Hmmm, I gave away my tackle box and rods to my nephew a couple of years after
certification, I kept my antique gear but it is collecting dust just as my golf bag is out
in the garage. Seems I just lost interest in both sports after being introduced to the
underwater world!

Oh, that is exactly what my golf bag is doing...another casualty of diving. Luckily, I am still married, but that subject has been threaded to death.

And I used to LOVE to go down to the Radio Island Marina outside of Beaufort too
see what was running....We had some GREAT times on the pier there. It just lost
allot of the excitment after diving and seeing the fish in their environment.
I now have better times in their world!

OOOOHHHHHHHH Nooooooooo. That will never happen. Fisherman 4 Life.

I've always been an avid fishermen. I still like to fish but I have to admit that I look at it a little differently now.

I've always thought the two went together. Go out early, hit the gulf stream for some dolphin, do a dive or two on the way back in.

Do a dive, drag some bait to the next dive site

Do a couple dives, call it a day, break out the beer and fish.

Just be sure to keep the hooks away from the BCs

I love to fish still. But spearfishing is where it's at man!

I do enjoy going fishing with my non-diving buddies, but every time the water is clear I want to get in and dive. I just can't look at water the same way again.

Cleaning all those Black Sea Bass for hours cut into my leisure time, when I'm off
the dive and gear is stowed, you will find me at the bar in the restaurant throwing
some back and ordering lobster!
