When talking to non-diver friends I always seem to be telling them to take diving classes and hyping the University program. Because of me, my best friend and his dad, who had done it a million years ago in the navy, got certified, and another good friend of mine did too last year. Is this a common occurance?

I try to recruit. However, most people I know would rather not dive. I am 18; my friends would rather spend their money on drugs. :( It's sad, I know.

Odds of going to jail for pushing SCUBA: slim to none

Odds of going to jail for pushing drugs: (just stick to pushing SCUBA)

Recruiting?

I try to find people to get into SCUBA diving all the time, but their most common response is, "Sure, if you will pay for it"

I guess I can understand that, being a student myself.

Dang.............I wish it was more inexpensive. Then I would dive everyday.everyday

I guess I will just have to satisfy with the weekends.

Yep, I'm a recruiter. Always have been. Doesn't everyone have a friend or family member that finds the greatest thing on earth and tells everyone about it?
I don't bother, beg or plead. I just state the facts.
This is the best thing you can do in life. If that doesn't sell them .. I talk about Bonaire. Hehehe
Here's my list in order of being recruited.

My internet friend Dawn ..talked to her on line.. she went to classes and got certified, and went on my first "Ladies only " Dive Trip.
My brother in law Bill
My son Jordan
My son Jesse
Jordan's best friend Sean
Sean's mother is considering it
My client (Lisa) is doing it before her Western Caribbean honeymoon.
And that's just the beginning!

Old Dog Trey was a good old dog, never did anything wrong. But the dogs Old Dog Trey ran with were bad; they tore into garbage cans, killed cats, howled at the moon and generally made nuisances of themselves. But not Old Dog Trey... When the town finally got fed up with the damage the pack was doing, they rounded it up and gassed 'em all, Old Dog Trey included.
Get some new friends.

I don't try to recruit but people know it is an interest of mine and if they ask me about it I tell them. It's up to them.

Voidware, Rick's point is good. You are judged by the company you keep.
