I work with a guy that talks about SPORTSMEN LAKE out side of Dayton I think he said it was in Xenia but I'm not sure.He said it had some good diving back in the day.( 70's or 80's.)What happen to this place and was it good diving?

I've heard there is a quarry in Cedarville (which is in Greene County close to Xenia) that used to permit diving. I think its now closed to diving.

From what my instructor told me (hoping she will chime in here) you are right, liability concerns closed it down

I used to live in Springfield, Oh as a kid and my father was a dive instructor at the YMCA in Springfield. He used to take me diving at Sportmans Lake in Cedarville in the mid-70's. It was great fun. I always wondered what happened to it. Too bad it is closed. It had crystal clear water and a checker board underwater to play on. The fish were tame as well since no fishing was allowed.

Ceaderville is in Greene County, which has its own GIS (Geographic Information Management System). The last flyover was around April of 07, so the images are fairly current. In looking at the image, some of the structures may be there still, and look in good shape. The info on it says it is owned by "Lake Enterprises LTD", and they are up to date on their taxes. The last sale date is 6/20/95.
