When I was a new diver coming off a lifetime history of sinus issues and had difficulty clearing on descent, I heard that a lot. As my ears got more "experienced' and were more willing to open up for me, the sound went away.

Thanks for responding (most of you) I know why, I was just interested if any one else was experiencing the same thing. as for ear wax I don't have any,(too much time in the water, too many Q tips, too much ear dry) on my doctor's recommendation I use EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL to act as wax to keep a handle on the bacteria in there by staving off infections.
I think most people would hear it if they listened for it. most of my diving is done in the midwest and about 1/2 in in 0 vizz ( cant read an illuminated gauge if I hold it to my mask) so I have gotten very aware of this physiological phenomena and use it to control my ascent rate, has been working since 1974.

Hey, OP wishes us to behave. Admittedly, not easy to do, I admit, but I AM trying to respect the request.
