It seems that certain people take issue with the DIR folks and are offended by the name but I consider myself a DIC diver. I Do It Correctly. I would like to hear from others who are DICs

Do you:
-believe there is more than one way to perform a certain task

-continue to improve and adapt your diving skills and knowledge as you gain experience

-have fun when you are diving and not take yourself too seriously

-dive within your level of training and experience

-take every opportunity to increase your variety of experience

-seek training in different areas of the hobby

-are open minded and have to ability to learn from others ideas and experience

-wish to share your joy of diving with others whether they are DICs or not

If you adhere to the above ideals you are probably a DIC diver also. There may be other attributes I have not mentioed but please feel free to post other items.

Just remember just because I am 6'3 I prefer not to be called a big DIC because I believe all DICs are equal.

I prefer to just be oppositional about it and call it "Doing It Wrong".

The main advantage with this approach is that T-shirts are already available.

It's worth noting that there are some pretty big names in the picture. Makes it obvious that while DIR divers may sell themselves as doing it the one true way, they are just one group of voices in the crowd.

Yup - I can live with that. At least it would save the jokes about being a DIC-head!! (no offense intended!!!)
I really want one of those T-shirts!

Whilst I admire DIR divers (they are good) IMHO it is not the answer to everything, and I do take accept ion to the name as it insinuates that if you are not DIR then you are doing it wrong. As the old saying go's "there is more than one way to skin a cat". I listen to others and change the way I do things to get the task completed as uncomplicated and easy as possible. The tree that will not bend in the wind will break, how true.
Do's this make me a DIC

Well I have been called a LOT worse please count me in :eyebrow:

Count me in too, although I don't get too hung up on labels. The only thing I get hung up on are bad attitudes, you guys know the ones I mean. I've always said and will continue to say: I'm not the world's best diver, and I know it! What's that they say about drinking problems....something like that.

I will pass.

I really do not want to hear the noise of idiots telling me that I am saying that they are "doing it incorrectly."
