I find it easier to just start the video before entry and turn it off after exit. If I wait till I see something cool I have already lost 5 to 10 seconds getting it rolling.
I use the z-pole and like it a lot since it is one piece and does not rattle or warble. I also braided about a 6-8 inch tether from cave line with a bolt snap on the end. Just clip it on, start it up and deal with it on the bottom.
