Jason Ooi:
UB dive profile

~ 2hrs with a max depth of ~20-25ft
~ 1 hr surface time
~ 2nd dive at 2hrs with a max depth of ~20-25ft
~ Using tanks (80 cu ft) with air

That is just what I ran,,the profile UB indicated...I took the max. of 25ft... total dive time 122 minutes on each dive,,,,this is with the 60 min. SI. *What is the problem with this dive profile and SI time issue you are hinting at?? Outside of being a bit 'waterlogged' I don't see the issue you seem to.

Jason Ooi:
I can't give any comment I don't have PADI table on my hand I'm in the office...reply lately this evening.

Don't bother.

His original dive puts him in PG "U" using the 35ft column on my PADI table. A 1hr SIT puts him in PG "H". Repetitive NDL time with PG "H" to 35ft is 161 minutes.

Enjoy your coffee.

Using Nitrox32 at 40' the RGBM tables allow for 3 consecutive 150 minute dives as long as there is a one hour surface interval.

The pressure of nitrogen in a Nitrox32 mix at 40' is equivalent to diving air at around 29'. So according to RGBM you could dive 25' on air for 150 minutes on three consecutive dives as long as you took an hour surface interval. These numbers also assume you did 150 minute dives.

Do you need nitrox at that depth? Nope. But it could still make a difference. It does not violate NAUI RGBM tables. The tables appear more conservative because they make you round up.

It does violate the NAUI air table. If you did a 2 hr dive at 40' you could only do the next dive for 29 minutes. But again this is assuming a square profile and with too much conservative stuff added in. Based on the pressure of the nitrogen in your mix at that depth you will be ok. Rounding to 40' may not be necessary at all times and since you will be even shallower it is very much like a continued safety stop.

I am still interested in Jasons concerns for this diver in this situation,,,,are we overlooking something??

No, there is nothing at all to overlook. This dive checks out by all commonly available info.

I understand that,,,but was hoping Jason might enlighten us with his concern.....looking at his long bio I just was hoping to pick up on something new. I have made several similar dive profiles and just seem to get a bit 'wrinkly'--lol.

You have no need to switch to Nitrox. Nitrox complicates things if you don't know what you are doing when you start making deeper dives. Nitrox can actually become poisonous to your body at a shallower depth than standard air because of partial pressure, and it all varies with how good of shape you are in etc. Your body has to metabolize Oxygen, unlike Nitrogen and Helium. There is a place for mixed gas in diving, and it isn't at 25 ft. For example we use Nitrox on working dives around 50 feet when the diver is working hard as a safety factor so he doesn't overbreathe his hat. But we never exceed the U.S. Navy No Decompression schedule unless of course a decompression chamber is on-site and we can safely do that. I am familiar with the dive computer that you are using and chances are, it is probably right, however recreational dive tables are a good guide and stay on the safe side. My advice to you would be, stick with air, plan your dive in accordance with the dive tables you were instructed with, and stick to the plan. You can wear your dive computer and use it for fun as supplemental information, but don't trust it with your life.

used 11 liter tank for the dive air consumption is the main concerned.
You must know the water condition/movement

My wife and I completed the PADI Enriched Air Diver course just last night.

It will certainly come in handy for the 6 days of Bonaire shore diving we're booked for in early September.

Besides the obvious benefits of diving EAN during multi-day, repetitive diving, I see reduced nitrogen exposure on any (within-limits) dive as win-win.
