yeah def,. no more experiments, 340$ pissed away would be BAD!
Oh a new sensor would be a lot less, and Patty is so nice she might do it for free - but you want it for your trip. Have a good one. :pilot:

OK got my smalls unit in today. We've blown in it after calibrating, and can only get it to read 1ppm Max(001 on the readout). Is this right?

What conceivable good would it do to blow in it?

Are you perhaps getting carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide confused?

Nope, that works - just to make sure the unit will register even the smallest about of CO. Non-smokers will blow 1 or 2 as everyone has some CO in their breath and smokers more. Saves buying and carrying the bump gas.

A quick Google search shows non-smokers, not exposed to second hand cigarette smoke will blow as high as 3-5 PPM of Carbon Monoxide.

I've had the pleasure of diving with Suprane a couple of years ago. He showed me the analyzer he had at the time (required Calibration gas) and told me the story of his friend that got the bad tank. Chilling to look into his eyes and hear the story. I now own a Analox detector and will use it on every tank.
What a ham! Suprane, hiding from the current up at Barracuda:

I may get my ass kicked for posting this pic of Suprane, but he is a good sport. If he kicks me, we'll both laugh. This is him the night before another important test, and everyone over 50 should understand...

Oh yeah, THAT looks familiar :)

Suprane is the guy who questioned whether bullshark had a nitrox cert?

It's all about statistics. Statistically, we are all gonna die someday. 100% of us.

Have any smokers who insist on analyzing every tank ever compared the risk of dying from CO on scuba versus the risk of getting lung cancer and dying prematurely from smoking? Just a thought...

In Cozumel, Mexico, as bullshark mentioned, I'm running the risk of being shot by drug lords. The plane could fall out of the sky or be hijacked. A hurricane could blow by and devastate the island. The water isn't safe to drink and there's a possibility of buying counterfeit bottled water. God only knows what's contaminating the food, especially at those AI buffets. And there's legionnaire's disease at some resorts. I could be run over by a boat while waiting for a pickup. I could drift out to sea. I could embolize, get caught in a downcurrent and get bent, or slip on one of those slick marble floors and break my neck.

How realistic is it, given that I've survived all those other threats, that among thousands of divers, hundreds of daily-diving DMs, I'll pick a tank, dive deep, and die from CO poisoning? Seriously.
