Out at Terrell today, I saw this Asian clam moving with what looked like the help of this extension that came out of its shell. I thought they just stayed in one spot forever unless a current moved them. So for the biologists out there, is this its foot?

Mod--Can I get this thread moved to the Marine Ecosystems group? Thanks.

Yes, that's it's foot. I haven't seen an Asian clam before, but most clams do have feet and shift themselves around.
