No, I didn't do a course. It was just fun-diving :)

As for the equipment, it is custom to leave your basic gear in the box on the boat. On the last day my fins were gone. Probably mistakenly taken by some other diver. I got a new pair, though :)

Seems like most of your questions got covered. But I'll add my 2¢ :D
I really liked diving in the Red Sea. Lots of corals and interesting walls. While I went on the dive the crew took my kids snorkling. We were way out there, but the reef reached from about 40' to the surface, amazing! They got to see some cool stuff. But what I did notice was that the water was MUCH saltier there than it is here.

Red Sea is the second - after Dead Sea - most salted sea in the world.
