Hey All,
I finally unearthed my underwater housing (for a Canon S1 - yes I know its old, but its all I have, being a poor student again )...Anyway was wondering I was wondering what your opinions would be on DIY strobes such as this:
www.devilgas.com - DIY Underwater digital strobe
...or even if I were "enhance" this idea with an even more powerful 8-AA flash model with of course a larger enclosure? I know I wont be able to adjust on flash while underwater, but my goal was to be able to set my camera to the fastest lowest ISO & faster shutter - so I could get optimal shots (considering minuscule size of the sensor), and would be able to adjust that while in the water?
My other question was, has anyone made a Macro Ring Light? I was looking at some diy plans online, and thought, with 12-20 strong white LEDs, 2 pvc pipes, some plexiglas and ALOT of glue, make it mount with the tripod mount, one might be able to fashion one?
About my diving - Since I am a poor student again, pretty much all my dives will be shore dives, with the vast majority being under 20 feet...average it seems is around 15 feet. Water is getting really clear right now, but like macro photography of things that don't move too much, so things hiding in holes/under rocks - I would think some additional light would be helpful? In the end I don't want to pay more than 40-50 bucks (even then thats alot for me right now)
Thanks in advance!,
Bob
