Any body had any experience with homemade camera glands? I have a few designs of my own that I would like to try, but I'd like advice from others before I spend money on parts. I'm looking at making a gland that enables a rod to twist and push a button & another to turn a dial.
Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks!!:14:

if you have access to a lathe.. then I would use o-rings, you could also make o-ring seats using a drill press and a counterbore.. then tap the counterbore and thread in a drilled bolt to produce a gland nut effect.

I have also seen pre-made glands sold as replacement tap stems at Home Depot etc... these are brass with either o-ring or compression washer seals... i'm sure that they could be adapted (read hacked) to suit.

I'm interested in doing my own at some point so let me know how you do and good luck!
