Wow... this thread is still kickin! Well as I said....the groupon worked out great. I dont really know Pavan's brazilian humor or know him at all, but im sure he can be a cool guy.

We recently got certified and had 4 awesome dives in the keys, we really loved the benwood wreck, and also rainbow reef dive operation. VERY professional team.

We are planing a lobster seminar and nitrox class with dixie divers this month.

We loved diving so much, we bought a boat to aid the addiction.

You're proof positive that Groupon does help stimulate the economy :D Great job on the boat... When are we diving?

I just finished my AOW with dixie divers through groupon and have nothing but praise to give them. Fwiw we were in class with "regular" non-groupon students. Joel was the first guy i met at the counter and he was super cool. Eric and the other instructors were very accomodating and helpful the whole time. The crew on their boat was awsome as well, Igor and Filipe do a great job of creating a light fun atmosphere great for learning. I will definitely use them for boat dives in the future. Don't know why the owner has a bad reputation he was really nice too even though we had all our own gear so we purchased nothing from them.... Correction i did end up buying a lobster bag.

I think he can rub people the wrong way sometimes... maybe it has to do with his accent or sense of humor. I actually like the guy.

Congrats on your AOW!

We did our open water at Dixie on the Groupon. About half the class was groupon. Half paid full priced. I have actually take the NAUI course about 15 years ago and compared to that I did not feel like we were treated second rate at all.

Also, contrary to what others have said, I've found their prices to be pretty good. They definitely made me feel like they actually want my business and are willing earn it. They will negoticate prices and give discounts if you buy a lot from them. I think they recognize I'm a cheap bastard and they'd rather get the little money I will part with, rather then let someone take it.

I think what other have said about the owner is pretty spot on. Personally I like the guy too, but I do see how some personalities would butt-heads with him. Tell him what you want and he'll try to be honest and fair with you. Stand there and complain at him and your not going anywhere.

We just finished our AOW and nitrox course over last weekend. We had a great time.

I had the carry 6 tanks back and forth each day, which was a PIA, but diving and instruction were good.

Went down 108 feet and spelled our names backwards to test nitrogen narcosis? ( :
