The surfer and his board looked from below just like a marine mammal. I don't think divers look much like marine mammals. I may make it down to Monterey this weekend and won't even give it a thought.

I have a spot paid for to do the Incredible Adventures cage dive off the Farallones September 29th. This was a present from my wife so I feel somewhat obliged to give it a shot, but in reality I have resigned myself to the fact that I'll likley spend the day looking out at pretty green water (even though the IA rep claims a 50% average for sightings). If I DO happend to see a GW I'll definitely post pics.
As most have stated, Guadalupe would be #1 if you are willing to pony up the $$.

DUDE! Let me know how this goes! ;)

I would love to surprise my wife with an adventure like this.

Will do Zen man. But I still don't have my hopes up, I would have had her save the $$ and put it towards a trip to Guadalupe, pretty much a sure bet you're going to see them there, or perhaps she could have bought me a sufboard and bus ticket to Monterey......okay, no flaming, my prayers go out to the unfortunate surfer whose only mistake was resembling a somewhat tasty seal.

Is it wrong that this makes me feel a bit nervous about diving Monterey this weekend?

Hmmm...I suppose it depends on if your nervousness is due to: a) risks involved in driving your car 120 miles from The City, or b) potential risks for becoming a shark's brunch (or after-dinner snack, if you are night diving)...
