Howdy all! I have been OW Certified for only about a month, but that certification has sorta changed my options for our 20-year wedding anniversary trip next year (May/June). So I am now looking for an enjoyable (not necessarily cheap) vacation that will allow me to do some wonderful dives for my skill level, while also offering some excellent snorkeling for the non-certified wife. I would like it even better if we could snorkel and dive at the same spot :)

We really enjoyed our first all-inclusive last year, but would be willing to go the non-AI route. Trying to keep it to Western Hemisphere, but keeping our options open.

We've looked at Cancun, Cozumel, and Belize, and I am looking for other opinions, particularly from those who have either dove these areas shortly after their certification, or had chosen another location and had a blast.

Man, I've gotta get out and dive :)

Thank you!!!

My family and I (divers and snorkelers) go to Bonaire. You can drive and dive. Just swim out a few yards to the reef. Even my 8 year old luvs it! You could fly out of Houston on the red-eye or if you could get over to Charlotte, Insel Air is flying out of there now to Bonaire and they usually have pretty good prices.

Suggestions:

1) State your actual maximum budget in dollars. (and time~ some places take a while to get to from Arkansas) and...

2) Get a different wife. (If this dive/non-dive thing had been realized those 20 years ago, we wouldn't be having this discussion in 2011) :eyebrow:

As for number 1, I can't see myself spending more than $5000 total, $4000 would still be pushing it.

As for number 2, I certainly did not think I would be a diver until about 18.5 years in, so that really isn't an option. She does share my other love (roller-coasters). She would love to join me, but can't due to medical reasons (she would never get doctor-approved).

:blinking:Paradise for snorkeling lovers, La Jolla Cove in San Diego is really a terrific place that deserves your visit. Numerous romantic relationships are witnessed there.

When you come to this attraction, no matter how long you stay there, you will rekindle your passion and enjoy yourselves to the hilt. This place can not only cater to your demands for diving, it is also the idealist romantic destinations for your wedding anniversary.
Besides, the business center within this district will make your travel time more convenient and cozy.
:)
Have a memorable trip~~~

Try Roatan Honduras. Great diving and snorkeling. You can either go the AI route or just lodging. The wife and i go to Barefoot Cay. Awesome diving and great food if you go the AI route.
