Hello,
Im doing my first normoxic trimix dive tomorrow, for my IANTD certification.
I really would like to bring my gopro, filming myself with 4 tanks, it is also a nice site where we can see hammerheads (I have a tattoo without ever seeing one).
I know that the case is maximum 60meters and it is not smart to bring it to 75, but I would like to know if there are other divers bringing the gopro at that depth, without anything happening to it.
Thanks

I’ve seen people use them to 80-90m; I have also seen some mention them leaking at 40m

For class (esp first couple dives); leave the camera; new tanks would need extra attention (I learned that the hard way on ANDP)

Regardless of depth rating, if you insist on taking it, pass it to your instructor (for the whole dive) they’d make the right footage regarding trim and all

Yeah either way the plan was to give it to my instructor. But I think Im just gonna attach it on the deco line and then we can play with it during the deco stops at least

Perfect solution actually

If you can afford to regard your GoPro as disposable, then I guess it's OK to take it to that depth.

I agree with your decision to give the camera to your instructor.

You're in a course and will feel pretty dorky if you don't pass because you were messing around with something unrelated to the skills for which you're being evaluated.

It might work, some have reported taking the cases deeper, but the buttons will stop working, as they often stop working before even 60m.

What you need is the Golem Gear GoPro case which is good for 150m or 300m.

The buttons won't work.
Hit record on the way down and just leave it running.

I've taken my stock housing to 300ft. I've also had the lens shatter at 170ft

I had mine town to 72m. Have to agree with Whitrzac. On my original housing the buttons normally stop working around 45-50m so the only solution is to start recording before that.
