Don't grab the Nurse Sharks by their tails.

Plan your dive and dive your plan.

note: do as I say, not as I do.

i found the entire notion that you should discount advice because a divers resume isn't impressive enough to be pretty stupid.

someone with 3,000+ dives has probably completely forgotten what it was like to have only 2 dives under their belt... they may also have picked up dangerous and complacent habits over the years, so its no guarantee of a correlation with good advice... caveat n00bie...

The first post asked experienced divers to post their best tips/tricks. I suggested the thread would be better if "experienced" were defined. It would provide a context of responses. The only gauge available in the virtual world of SB is the number of dives. The original poster could have chosen "experienced" to mean those with more than 50 dives or those with more than 1000 dives and the responses would likely be different. Do you understand why this would be the case?

I was one hundred percent intentionally vague, remembering that, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. ;)

However, I am pleased that people find interesting who is posting, as well as what they posted. :eyebrow:

Hmmm... whatever, I just completed my 7th dive.

Learning from my very own experience. Always make the first dive of your dive trip a checkout dive and refresher. Don't straight away jump in and snap away with your camera. Happens to me, noob. Didn't get good pictures, din enjoy the dive, and having problem control my buoyancy. (This happens on my 6th dive, which makes my 7th dive more enjoyable because I found out I am carrying too much weight)

Anyway, experience should not be always counted by the number of dives logged, there are some other factors involved.

Get yourself a nitrox spare air and a six pack and party on Dude.........Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Loose fin strap underwater -- easier to let your buddy put it back on. (doable by yourself, but a pain with cold water gloves on)

Take things S L O W L Y.. go with the flow... relax until you are under ocntrol, and comfrtrable in your surroundeings...
