Diving Tenerife

Hey Loonies...how about a trip to the Canary Islands for diving? Round trip air from New York is about $900 bucks and they have pacakge deals for 5 days at a hotel and airfare for about $1500. I hear the diving there is great with wrecks and lots of sealife (including dolphins and beluga whales).

Anyone interested in maybe putting together a trip for next year sometime?

I wa there on vacation a couple of years ago and food and such is fairly reasonable, you will need a passport as they belong to Spain. Black sand beachs, great hotels and good food, not to mention of course...diving!

Round trip airfare for the week of May 18-May 28 (1 day travel each way) is $967.00. I have a resort membership I can get a 2 bedroom with pullout couch (6 adults) on, so no charge for the room (Just buy Susan and I dinner). Diving for a 10 dive package runs acout 260 euros or 340 dollars. Food would be whatever you think (the room has a partial kitchen or you can eat out). With a party of 6 we could probably work a deal on the diving as well.

Anyone interested?

Why Tenerife (Canary Islands)? Why Not? No one I know has been there, the pictures and descriptions for the dives sound great. From my visit thre a couple of years ago it is a fun place and very relaxing.

What kind of package can you put together for a week of diving? Probably on the South end of the island.

example:

7 nights in Double Room with breakfast and dinner.
10 dives (tank, weight, boat, divemaster).
445€ per each (270€ non divers)

Hi Mike
Try to spend 3 or 4 days in Hierro : it's a fantastic place, the best diving spots in canary islands according to what few canarians I know says ( but without any wrecks on the south coast).
They often see mantas or mobulas in august/september around Hierro.
This small Island is a desert comparing to Tenerife, the landscapes are amazing, not as much as Tenerife's of course.
The best for the divers is to sleep at "La Restinga", you can manage with the dive center for accomodations, I went there : it's a
good adress.
The prices are the same as indicated over ( very good prices on my opinion).
If you decide to go to Hierro, try to avoid the week end (and school hollidays in august ): it's quite crowdy because many people comes from Tenerife to dive there.
