i have lived in nw ohio all my life(24 years) till last year i moved to los angeles and got certified here but will be moving back in another year. i have done alot of reading on here and it doesn't seem that many people actually dive in the lake, mostly just quaries...or am i under the wrong impression if anyone on here dives our corner of the lake where do they dive and what is it like? i am pretty familiar with the lake i have fished it and hunted on it all my life.

I lived several years in NW Ohio (Fremont/Pt Clinton) and started early on diving in SW Lake Erie... it's nothing to write home about... every dive was hit and miss on the viz. Over a 4-5 year period, the best viz was about 5-10ft even though folks would talk about viz of 20-30ft (I never saw it). After I started wreck diving elsewhere, I just never found it worthwhile diving in SW Lake Erie again. It's only a couple of hours to get to better wreck diving... even the Cleveland area has better wrecks.... I prefer to head to Barcelona, NY to dive with Osprey Charters. Many others will head up to Pt Sanilac, MI and dive with RecTec (Gary Venet). Too many good options to dive in the muck around the Islands.

Some of the characteristics that make the SW end of Erie great for personal watercraft and world class walleye fishing, make it mediocre/poor for diving.... IMHO. So you're better off going to some of the quarries that NW Ohio is blessed with if you want a quick dip in the pool to keep your skills sharp before your next wreck or reef trip.
