Hi everybody I am new to forums so please don´t pay attention to any mistakes.
I live in patagonia Argentina and ussually dive on lakes of glacial origin, especially Nahuel Huapi lake.
I been diving for 30 years in many places and in february I will have to take a bussiness trip to Australia. Because I will be some days in Sidney and in Perth I would deply appreciate some advice
Sincerely

Pablo

Pablo, welcome to SB.

There are some nice sites near/around Sydney. I was diving from the Pro-Dive boat "MV Sea Life V" - the sites are minutes away from Rose Bay (which is minutes away from central Sydney). I was diving in June and August, 2001, and the water was a relatively "warm" 16-18 degrees C - at least 5mm wetsuit and hood for multiple dives recommended.

Lots of great critters, Port Jackson and Grey Nurse sharks, giant cuttlefish, and uniquely Australian ones like sea dragons.

Thanks I have 4 days in Sidney before I have to travell to Pert and there is no way in hell I will not dive so your info comes handy. I will be there arround February 23 so I guess temperature is OK. Anyhow I have to rent all my equipment to hard to travell with it.

I just like to say "Hi!" to ever new member who comes thru here, so - "Howdy there...!!"

PM me if I can help you find your way here...

Rottnest Island off Perth is great http://www.victoriadiving.50megs.com/cgi-bin/framed/3354/rottnest.html. I went with Malibu Divers because thay were the only operator based on the island, so we had our luch/surface interval on the island and could do a bit of sightseeing. I tried to dive when I was in Sydney, but the world cup for rugby was on and the city was packed and all the dive charters were booked. I did a shallow shore dive in Manly (Sydney suburb), but missed out on some good boat diving. By the way, in Sydney the dive operators were pretty strict. For most boat dives you had to have at least an AOW cert and for dives below 100 feet or so some expected you to have a tech cert.

Have a look at diveoz.com.au lots of good information there.

for diving in sydney, it helps to know where you will be based out to give you some dive shops near you.

otherwise, Manly Dive and Bondi Dive offer a bus service from the dive shop to the site.

Frogdive runs a weekly boat schedule
