I have been prescribed Roaccutane by my dermatologist for adult acne.

My dermatologist tells me there is no problem diving whilst taking this medicine as it is only affecting my body's regulation of vitamin A.

My doctor tells me diving is off limits while I'm on the tablets (the next 6 months).

Who's right?

Must be frustrating.

In general, the dermatologist would be considered the expert on the subject of diving while on this medication. However, the opinion of your regular doctor may be based on information about your medical history/situation, or on specific knowledge of diving medicine, of which the specialist is unaware.

You might consider asking your personal physician if s/he would be so kind as to speak directly with the dermatologist in an effort to resolve the matter.

Best of luck.
