That could be so, tho' I don't know how they would have done it. Depth charges, maybe?...! Or why.

Check out a place called Portofino. Stayed there and dove with the house DO. Never more than 6 divers. Small fast boat, 5 min to the reef. Can't remember the name of the DO but the DM is Craig and the Cap'n name is Will. Great guys.

Portofino is a small resort with 12 bungalows and a main bar/restaurant structure. It's a very secluded, quiet resort. It's about 6 mi. north of San Pedro accessible only by boat. I went for my Honeymoon and just loved it. Glad I didn't stay in San Pedro as it's more of a party atmosphere. Great little town, definitely worth a visit. You can easily kill the afternoon at Fido's. I killed a few afternoons at Fido's. I guess I just like to have my party time and my quiet time on vacation. Don't know if I would have had any quiet time staying in San Pedro.

Have a Belikin for me. U Lucky Dawg.

Try ProTech Belize. They are great people. They can support anyone from the beginning diver up to re-breather folk, and technical divers. They can also help with arranging accomodations.

Try them at:

I second BigJetDriver69.

My wife and I just returned from Ambergris Cay this last Monday. I'll be posting a full report and some pictures in the next couple of days, but havn't gotten to it yet. We each made 20 dives during our 9 day stay. Peter Jone's Dive masters (Ronni is not longer around) did a fantastic job for us. Most of our diving was with DM Brian. We also made a few with DM Gilbert. Both DM's were as good or better than any I've ever had the pleasure of diving with in the Carribean. The boats were fairly large, very stable and Very Uncrowded. In fact, on our last day-My wife and I were the only two divers and they still went. It was an awsome trip to "Eagle Ray Canyons". We had 6-8 rays pass us at various times during the trip.

We did all our local diving with Protech, and they contracted us to Amigo's Del Mar for the full day trips to the Blue Hole/Halfmoon cay and Elbow. Both were worth doing. Amigo's has their Pro48 boat that is nicely equipped for the "Blue Water" trips. Amigo's also ran a good shop. Their boats were just a little more crowded than we desired for the "local" diving. I finished my Nitrox course through Protech while there, and it appeared that there were a number of students in various stages of course completion.

As far as lodging, We stayed at the Sunbreeze. Nice accomodations for a hotel. The rooms were clean and the food/drink was good but a little overpriced. Not a problem as all the downtown food was very close by. Hit Mango's for their Cajun Burger, Fido's for all types of food, (The Sushi upstairs was awsome), Caliente and Caramba's for seafood. We did some checking for future visits. If you're just looking for a room/bed, try the Sunbreeze. If you want some more space, Check out Banyon Bay. I believe that they have their current 2 bedroom condo's for $185.00. Very nice and enough room to bring the kids. Also nice was Xanadu. Dive Protech!! Ken :42:
