80$ a dive with charters? I am going there next week

You can get a trip out to the tower/reef/santore area for about 40-50 (the exact price depends on the moon as far as I can make out). Also 70 miles away there is shore diving off Nags Head.

is there a lake or river that we can go diving around
VA beach ? I am sure there are some !!

thank you

Now think about it...you are 0 miles from the ocean. Why would you want to go to a lake or river? The nearest lake is about 120 miles away and it'll cost you about $20 to get in and dive a crowded (warm) but otherwise completely uninteresting quarry, and probably get some kind of skin rash afterwards. Personally I'd either trek down to NC or suck up the 40-45 boat trip and go to the tower.

I know that I am at 0 miles from the ocean but i hate spending 140$ for
2 persons for a charter , I always catch twin tank nitrox divers that stays
2 and half hours under when you have nothing to do on the boat but wait
for them .... this is the only reason . the way I see it I will leave my equipment
at home .

thank you very much for your time.

Yep. If it has to be a lake or river, leaving the gear home is probably your best choice.

Personally, I would go for some shore dives on the Outer Banks and take advantage of that 0 miles figure.

I have driven charters and headboats in this area and have been a passenger on charters and headboats in this area and I have never seen someone spend two and one half hours on a dive.

In any case, if you are making two dives anyway, it should make little or no difference.

If you go to regional clubs forum and find the NC wreck divers forum there is a thread related to the triangle wrecks (shore dives) in nags Head. The group is going NEXT weekend , and they never mind someone else coming along. If that is not the time frame you're looking at, you will find very specific directions to the site somewhere in the thread. suthnbelle is heading the trip up, so PM her if you need additional info.
